She loved a whole lot of her gifts, as always - clothes, jewelry, toys, games - and she'll likely play with many of them for a long time, but there was one definite winner, and this year I was smart enough to know what it would be in advance and reserve it for me and Daddy to give.
Sometimes a mom has to be selfish like that.
She woke up and got dressed on her birthday morning and dug right into her gifts...
The best gift, however...
M1 was jealous beyond words for quite a while, till Oz took him aside and asked him if he realistically thought he'd EVER use a vacuum cleaner in his room. He tried to say yes till I pointed out that he barely likes cleaning his room as it is and he'd have to keep his floor clean if he had a vacuum. That changed his tune.
The girl, on the other hand, is ecstatic. She is most definitely nothing like her mother. I hated using vacuum cleaners forever. My mom still claims that when I moved out and she vacuumed, the carpet changed color. I tend to think she's exaggerating. My daughter, on the other hand, vacuumed her room three times that first day. She was thrilled beyond words to be able to get all the gerbil bedding off the floor.
It may not be a toy, but it's certainly her favorite gift!
